Message Out Of Mid Day Lunch

Four of us Me Raghu Swetha and Santosh headed for a midday meal at our canteen. Unusually we chose to have our lunch at the first floor dining hall. I dint know that this unusual change and deviation from our routine would make me write my first blog. I’ve read few blogs of my friends and relatives; and little did they encourage me to come up with blog of my own. A month back I did plan to create a blog and post about my experiences of my visit to GOA to celebrate the new year eve, the weeklong vacation was awesome but the enthusiasm faded with every passing day as I got completely engrossed in my routine and hectic life, not so far until this day, a message that came out from our normal discussion during the lunch inspired me to write my first blog.

Swetha as I know since few weeks is a person who just wants to be the way she wants to be, never out of her comfort zone. I did not purposefully use the word Introvert because had she been that she would have never spoken the way she did today and mingled with us. Raghu as I know him since couple of months is an out and out extrovert.
The discussion swayed with Raghu saying that he would extend his support for the cause of separate state of Telangana, which as everyone in AP knows has been quiet disturbing and devastating. This statement of Raghu did provoke Swetha. She wanted to know as to why did he come out with such a controversial statement, for which his reply was he supported the cause because of the injustice been done to the people of this region. Now it is definitely unfair if I don’t mention and talk about Santosh who was pragmatic with his words and took his stand on united AP. With the number of unconditional strikes called by the shrewd politicians AP today has lost revenues, had this been not lost people(we) could have got everything that we wanted and been deprived . This discussion continued for 30 minutes and one question of her shut our mouths.

To various other statements like people of Telangana would get water, people of Telangana would get jobs etc.

Swetha gave a befitting reply.

The reply was again a question “Is it the shrewd and power hungry politicians or the people who really want a separate state?” to which we three unanimously gave an answer “People”.

The reply was again befitting “If people want to fight, they have to fight for their right, Why is not possible to get water in a United AP; especially when every river in AP flows through this region, why is not possible for the people of the region to get jobs in united AP”.

If people can fight they should be fighting for the right cause and fight for the basic amenities like water, primary education and health care, but we never do. “Why?” Very rarely do we see such a thing happening in India. This is because of the mindset of the common man, in my narration the PEOPLE

If there’s anything that needs to change it’s the attitude of the common man that has to change. Very few these days respect law and abide the rules set but most of us lack sincerity, disrespect law, and lack honesty as we neither speak truth nor confess when situation warrants.

Everyone of us know that bribing is not good we still bribe to get a house built, to get your flat regularized coz your builder had violated the norms set, everyone of us know that breaking / jumping a traffic signal is an offence most of us do that and bribe the police man at duty to avoid being penalized heavily. This attitude should change.”

“RISHWAT DHENA TO KUDH PAPA NEY SIKAYA, AlPHA BETA GAAMA NEY POORA BACHPAN JALA DALA”, everyone these days is well versed with these lyrics from the movie 3 Idiots; instead children at home should be brought up on moral ethics of sincerity, honesty and respect for law. Teachers at school should take up the cause of grooming students, and groom them as future citizens of India, rather than tuning them as money making machines as they grow up. The essence of education (gaining knowledge) along with moral ethics would solve every problem that the country is facing today.

It’s not only parents and teachers who are to be blamed , we usually have the tendency to push the blame on to others , Society comes into picture to take the blame my question would be who constitutes the society its again people like us.
How do we bring in a change? The answer could be if you are working professional or a self employed or a business man sponsor at least primary education for a single poor child and if possible a girl child, you don’t go and find them in a country like India . It hardly takes 15K INR a year to sponsor primary education for two children. I did learn this from Swetha which made me bow my head in respect when she told me that she is sponsoring education of her maid’s children. I hold high respect for Raghu as I hear about the activities he takes up in his leisure time.

If you are a parent groom your children on moral ethics. The options are plenty and the list is never ending. I’ve spoken about the options that I’ve heard from during my discussion, the discussion which made me introspect and come up with untimely resolutions one to respect law and to sponsor primary education of a girl child.
It doesn’t matter who you are, what matters is attitude, an attitude to be good and to do good.

Days are not far when the country would be crippled with various problems and we would lose sheen and shine gained, ultimately loose our SELF RESPECT.

I’ve begun to change; I did start abiding the law. Today I stopped at the cross roads when the traffic signal showed RED, I was fined at the same traffic signal last week for crossing the signal and for not fastening the seat belt and I did bribe the cop that day. I am confessing this because an hour long no-nonsense talk with Raghu and Swetha did bring in a change me, which otherwise would have never happened and I would’ve never created a blog. I’ve never ever in my life admired people, because my perception till date was that people are mean and they are selfish , but today I whole heartedly admire Swetha and Raghu and I am extremely happy to be associated with them.

I hope this narration wasn’t rhetoric. :)
